Edgo is pleased to announce that it has signed a Technical Training Agreement with Eni, the Italian multinational energy company. The training will be carried out at the Edgo Services Center (ESC) in Basra, Iraq. The Eni training agreement, which is expected to run for at least 2 years, will consist of drilling and completion courses for engineers and supervisors as well as field HSE and general technical English courses. Eni has chosen to conduct all its technical training activities at the ESC.
In Iraq, Edgo has complemented its core business of oilfield services by investing heavily in infrastructure for the provision of technical training to help bolster capacity and upgrade the skills of Iraqis in the oil & gas sector.
Eni was awarded the license for the development of the Zubair giant field in Iraq in 2009. The license was awarded to an Eni-led consortium (with Eni as Operator), consisting of the US Occidental Petroleum Corporation and Korea Gas Corporation. The Zubair field, one of the largest Iraqi oil fields, was producing 195,000 barrels of oil per day. In the next seven years, under the field’s expansion program, production is expected to reach a plateau level of 1.125 million barrels of oil per day. The service contract will last 20 years and can be extended to 25. It also includes the participation of Iraq’s South Oil Company with a 25% share.
