Omar M. Masri

As a second-generation leader at the helm of Edgo, Omar has led the oil and gas services group as its Chief Executive Officer for 17 years. The scion of the founder, Omar has navigated the industry with a proven track record, honed through pivotal roles at commercial and investment banking institutions. His entrepreneurship is marked by the establishment and successful sale of several companies.

 

A 1989 finance graduate from George Washington University, Omar subsequently completed an intensive, two-year wholesale credit training program at CoreStates Financial Corporation/Wharton Business School in the United States and subsequently managed the bank’s Japan and Thailand desks. He then relocated to London as a fund manager with Foreign & Colonial Emerging Markets, where he structured and managed the world’s first, regional Middle East investment fund which was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

 

In 1996, he founded Atlas Investment Group, a pioneering investment bank in the Middle East and North Africa. In 2004, the Arab Bank acquired Atlas and established it as its investment banking arm. Omar became Arab Bank’s first global head of investment banking.

 

Omar joined Edgo in 2006 and has been leading the company ever since. He has spearheaded the strategic expansion of the oil and gas services group across key markets and activities through a combination of organic initiatives and targeted acquisitions. His leadership style is rooted in fostering innovation, cultivating a dynamic corporate culture, and building strong collaborative teams. This approach has been instrumental in executing Edgo’s expansion strategy, enabling the group to not only adapt to the evolving energy landscape but also to thrive in it.

 

By consistently pushing the boundaries of what the group can achieve, Omar and his team have solidified Edgo’s presence in critical markets and diversified its activities, ensuring long-term success and resilience.

 

Omar is a board member of several public and private companies as well as educational and philanthropic institutions. He is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization and was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
